The practice exams imitate the three sections of the real exam. As in the real exam, the questions are in Dutch.

You can take the first practice exam of each section with a free account. The other practice exams of a section require a membership that includes that section (the full exam package or a package for that section). Before creating an account, you can try the sample questions on the Practice exams page.

Results page

When you finish the exam, you see your result, the number of correct and wrong answers, and an explanation for each question. Your results are saved on the My exam results page.

If you want to share your result, you can create a share link. The link is open for 1 hour, and anyone who has the link can see your result, your answers and your voice recordings without an account.

Speaking section: recording

Your browser asks for microphone permission; if you don't allow it, no recording can be made. You can also turn it on later: see Microphone and sound problems for the steps.
The microphone only works over a secure (https) connection.
Your answer to each question is recorded separately. After pressing record, start speaking when you see “Recording · speak now”: it appears once the microphone is really recording, so the start of your first word is not lost.
After you press “Stoppen”, recording goes on for a very short moment so your last word is not cut off.
What you said is transcribed after the recording and shown on screen.

Speaking section: evaluation

The recording of each answer is transcribed and evaluated with AI. This evaluation is for practice; it is not an official exam result.

In practice exams each answer is checked right after you record it; you see the result under the question within a few seconds to a minute. In the real exam experience nothing is shown during the exam; the results appear on the results page when the speaking part is finished.
For each answer you see whether it is correct or wrong, a short explanation, and marks for fitting the question, grammar and pronunciation. Explanations are written in the language you chose on the site.
If your answer has grammar mistakes, even when it is correct, you see the corrected version and an explanation of each correction. Small grammar mistakes do not make an answer wrong when it is understandable; in the real exam, too, being understandable and fitting the question matter more.
In practice exams every question also gets a short and a full sample answer, with a translation into your language and the meaning of each word. These are only examples; a different answer can be correct too.
If what you said is the same as one of the question’s example answers, your answer counts as correct right away; no further explanation is written then.
The AI does not hear your voice; it reads the transcription of what you said. The pronunciation note is therefore an estimate.
The AI check has a daily limit. When you reach it, you can keep recording and taking exams; your new answers are not checked that day. If you give the same answer again, the earlier result is used and does not count towards the limit.

If what you said can't be made out or can't be transcribed at that moment, this does not count as wrong: you see a notice on screen and can record again. You can always listen to your recording.

If you like, you can use "Request evaluation" on the results page to ask an instructor to listen to your recordings. The instructor marks each question as correct or wrong and writes a comment; you get a notification when the evaluation is finished.

"Try it yourself" on the home page

In the AI section of the home page you can try a real speaking question, even without an account: pick a question, listen to it, record your answer (up to 40 seconds) and tap Check my answer. Within seconds you see your score out of 10, short feedback and sample answers.

Without an account the number of tries is limited; the screen shows how many you have left. Only tries that get a result count: if the recording is too short, silent or not understood, or something goes wrong, you keep your try.
A quick security check runs before you record; usually you do not have to do anything.
When you are signed in, the demo uses your daily AI checks from the practice exams.
Your recording here is only used for this check and is not stored: neither the audio nor the transcript stays in your account or on the site.

How long are your recordings kept?

Your voice recordings, their transcripts and their AI evaluations have no automatic expiry: they are kept in your account together with your result until you delete your account. If you delete your account, they are permanently deleted together with it.
