What is the guided tour?

When you open My Dashboard for the first time after confirming your account, the guided tour starts. It takes you through the main sections one by one: Courses, practice exams, word games, challenges, stories, the level test, Topic Lessons and the community. On each page it highlights the important parts and explains in a few sentences what they do.

To move on to the next section, the tour asks you to open the menu and tap the menu item. On wide screens the menu is always open at the side, so you tap the menu item straight away. That way you also learn how to use the menu by trying it. On steps where you need to tap, you see "Tap the highlighted spot to continue" instead of a "Next" button.

On a phone, the tour ends by showing the bottom bar: press and hold it and slide sideways to switch tabs.

If a page has nothing to highlight for a step (for example, when no course is published yet), the step is shown as a short message in the middle of the screen and the tour carries on.

Pausing and continuing where you left off

Skip tour pauses the tour. My Dashboard then shows a "Your guided tour is unfinished" card: Continue where I left off takes you back to your step, Close ends the tour for good.
The step you stopped at is saved to your account, so you can continue on another device too.
Reloading the page or pressing the back button does not lose the tour: it continues from the step of the page you are on.
If you go to a page outside the tour while it is running, a Back to the tour button appears at the bottom.
On a keyboard, the arrow keys move forward and back, and Esc pauses the tour.

Restarting the tour

You can start the guided tour again whenever you like:

the Guided tour button in the Preferences card on My Dashboard,
the Guided tour button at the top of the Help centre,
or the Guided tour button at the bottom of the How to use page.

Page tour

My Dashboard is grouped by topic: Exam preparation, Learning, Words and games, Community and notifications, Support and preferences. Tap a heading in the Jump around your dashboard box near the top and the page scrolls straight to that part. Your study streak at the top shows how many days in a row you finished a practice exam or a word game, or studied in All questions.

The Page tour button on My Dashboard opens a short tour of that page only: your statistics, the section headings, your progress in each exam section, your word games, Topic Lessons, your latest results, the menu and your account menu. Only the parts that are actually on your page are shown.
