In the Lezen exam the goal is not to understand every word, but to find the answer to the question. These steps save you time.

Look at the title and the question first. The title (Mijn Familie, Het weer) tells you the topic. Read the question and know what you are looking for: a name, a time, a place?
Pick the key word. In Hoe heet de vader? the key word is vader. In Wat doen zij op zondag? it is zondag.
Scan the text. Don't read from start to finish. Let your eyes look for the key word. When you find it, read that sentence and the next one carefully.
Check the options against the text. Check every option, one by one. If a word from the text is also in an option, don't choose it straight away: that word may be about someone else or another day.
Don't get stuck on unknown words. A text can contain a hard word like verpleegkundige. If the question is not about it, it doesn't matter. The rest of the sentence is usually enough.

The answer often uses other words than the text. The question says werkt, the text says heeft een baan.
Pay attention to negative words like niet, geen, nooit: they turn the meaning around.
Questions usually follow the order of the text. The first answer is often near the beginning, the last one near the end.
If you have time left, check your answer once more against the sentence in the text.
