Most texts in the Lezen exam are a letter, email, text message or notice: from the council, the school, the GP, work or a neighbour. These texts always have the same parts.

Look at the intro line. Above the text there is a short description (Ahmed krijgt een brief van de gemeente.). Who writes to whom? Knowing this makes the question easier.
Find the subject. The first two sentences are usually the reason for the letter: Vanaf 1 maart…, Uw bankpas is bijna verlopen.
Look for what you have to do. Commands (Bel ons…, Neem … mee, Maak een afspraak) and u moet, u hoeft niet are often the answers.
Mark dates, times and deadlines. voor 13 maart, binnen 5 dagen, vanaf morgen 12.00 uur: questions often ask about these.
Watch the if-sentences. Kunt u niet komen? Bel dan… or Bent u niet thuis? Dan…: the question is often about exactly that situation.

Common phrases

U hoeft niets te doen. = You don't need to do anything.
Neem … mee. = Bring … with you.
Let op: = Note (an important warning).
Met vriendelijke groet = Kind regards (the end; the name below is the writer).
