Question 1

What should I bring on exam day?

Accepted Answer

Your appointment confirmation, a valid passport and a recent colour passport photo. Some embassies ask for extra documents, so check the list in your appointment email.

Question 2

How long does the exam day take?

Accepted Answer

About two hours for the three parts and the breaks in between. Allow some extra time for the ID check and fingerprints at the counter. You can also split the parts over different days.

Question 3

Can I find out my result on the day?

Accepted Answer

No. The result comes from DUO by email or letter within about 8 weeks. In the Real Exam Simulation, however, you see your KNS and Lezen results right away.

Question 4

How is the Real Exam Simulation different from the practice exams?

Accepted Answer

In the practice exams you work on one part at a time and can use sample answers and explanations. In the Real Exam Simulation the three parts come in exam-day order, back to back, with Dutch-only screens and no hints.

Question 5

How often can I take the Real Exam Simulation?

Accepted Answer

Each simulation is built for you, with the questions you've seen least coming first, so repeating it is worthwhile. For most people, one or two full rehearsals in the last days before the exam are enough.

Question 6

Who listens to my speaking recordings?

Accepted Answer

You can listen to them yourself. If you like, request an evaluation so an instructor listens to them; the instructor marks your answers and writes a comment. This evaluation is for practice and is not an official exam result.
